#NVIDIA 8400 WINDOWS 7 X64 DRIVERS 64 BIT#
The 8400 is the one I'd really like to upgrade to 64 bit at some point (it's my media machine) Speaking of HW, here are some additional specs.

I still have a lot of work to do researching my cards and whether or not there are 64 bit drivers for them, but I figured I'd better get the short answer on the OS first before I waste time on CPUs that can't do 64 bit very well. Has anyone else here in the forum installed a Windows 64 bit OS on their Dimension 8300 or 8400 PCs? Are they working OK? Did you have problems finding drivers for your HW cards? I think that takes care of the physical RAM requirement for Windows 7 64 bit, but then I have no idea whether or not the CPUs in these Dimensions can work efficiently with a 64 bit OS. This makes me wonder if upgrading Windows 7 from 32 bit to 64 bit on these Dimensions is feasible.īack in the days when I was suckered in by the promise of Vista, I upgraded the physical RAM in both machines to 4 GB. I've noticed lately that some of the high-end tools I use like Sony Vegas Pro are going to 64-bit versions only.

I do a lot of Audio-Video stuff, including DVD and Blu-Ray authoring (and everything else that entails in terms of video/graphics/sound editing/mixing, etc, etc.) Currently they're running Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit. I have two Dimensions, one 8300 and one 8400.
